WHAT DOES MERITA MEANS ?

The Homeland
Merita or Tamert is the traditional name for the continent known today as Africa. It is still used today by the traditional societies around the continent. It is a traditional Medu (hieroglyphics) word which when translated means Meri - Beloved and Tah - Land (Our Beloved Land).
Kemet was the worldwide civilization that preserved the earth and its people for over 100,000 years before the modern colonial systems gained power. Today Kemet is misrepresented as the territory of the Nile Valley. Traditionally the Nile Valley was the capital of the great Kemetic civilization. As the Kemetic civilization spread around the world, the continent of Merita, the Americas, Australia and the territories of China, India and parts of Europe were all referred to as Kemet because of their allegience to the original civilization.
As the Earth Center works to promote and preserve traditional Kemetic Culture and empower humanity with the knowledge of our common unifying indigenous roots it becomes very necessary to part with the term Africa that is presently assigned to the continent also known as the cradle of civilization.
It is quite clear in an examination of world history that the colonizers of the world have made it a priority to devalue in any way they can the "African" continent. In all of the modern religions people of color are demonized. In Christianity they are said to be the descendents of the only cursed son of Israel, Ham. In Islam they are spoken of as slaves. To continue the legitimization of the demonization and genocide that the colonial world led on Africa and people of color world wide the fathers of that system gave the continent of Merita the name Africa, which is a Medu (hieroglyphics) word that when translated means Afri - burning Ka soul (Land of Burning Souls) In our liberation of the image of our motherland, the cradle of civilization it is important that we distance ourselves from the term Africa.
